In 2011 we were really excited when Elizabethfields Gemma B2 followed upon her success in 2010 as Reserve Interbreed Champion in Bendigo to also take out Reserve Interbreed Champion at the Dubbo Beef Expo.

In 2011 we were really excited when Elizabethfields Gemma B2 followed upon her success in 2010 as Reserve Interbreed Champion in Bendigo to also take out Reserve Interbreed Champion at the Dubbo Beef Expo.

Our success with broad ribbons continued at Canberra in 2012 with Reserve Junior Champion and Senior champion Bull and going on to win the breeders group broad ribbon.

On to Sydney Royal, our favourite Royal and the show we aim to peak our cattle for each year.

On to the Competition -   Our tried and tested successful breeding program once again rose to the fore as we saw our team take out the Royal double, Cow and Bull championship.  This capped off a very successful year for our stud with our great success at the Sydney Royal winning both Grand Champion ribbons.

Our 18 month old heifer Elizabethfields Gemma F6,  took out Junior and Grand Champion  cow Winning Elizabethfields a 5th Manooka Perpetual Trophy (in 7 years of competition) and our Senior and Grand champion Bull Elizabethfields Superimpose E20,  won us our first M.S.Traynor Perpetual Trophy.   Superimpose then took out the Supreme Exhibit championship.
Elizabethfields has never had a senior bull compete at Sydney Royal before so this win was very special.

On to the Interbreed. In the Urquhart Trophy our Champion Heifer was called up to the line of 10 in the Cow interbreed championship and our Senior bull was pulled up to the top row and took out third place  in the Interbreed championship line-up.  We took out most successful exhibitor and best displayed team 2-5 head for the Murray Greys as well.

This was a great accomplishment see our Champion below.

Elizabethfields Superimpose E20

Bendigo Beef Expo

Bendigo Beef was not held this year so we missed taking our big fellow down to compete in Victoria.  Superimpose is now proudly standing at stud and is at present out working.  His semen will be available after his first drop of calves.

Melbourne Royal Show 50th Anniversary  – Bronze Sponsorship from Elizabethfields Murray Grey Stud

This year saw the Murray Grey as feature of the Melbourne Royal. Unfortunately we were unable to send a team so we decided to support the 50th anniversary by sponsoring the Murray Greys with a $1000.00 donation (Bronze Sponsorship). We received a Certificate from John Tyrell for our effort. Despite this effort we received no other recognition for this significant monetary support. The Society has a lot of work to do to encourage support for significant milestones. We hope that they see this comment and determine a strategy to improve recognition for significant sponsorship of these events, especially when they come from breeders.

Our breeding herd has seen some excellent progeny arrive this year. We are very excited at the prospect of having great difficulty choosing who to take for next year’s competition in 2013.  We will only be taking 2 junior bulls to Canberra this year but will have settled our team’s line-up for Sydney and Bendigo early in the New Year.

Our line up of baby heifers and bulls for 2014 competition looks spectacular! See next Newsletter for more information.

We wish all of our friends, clients and fellow-breeders a happy and safe Christmas holiday.
